Facility:Eustis Historical Museum
Description:Visitors will love the in-depth personalized tour that is full of history. The Clifford House and the Citrus Museum allow people to experience firsthand how life was when Eustis began. Many people are unaware of Dr. Edgar J. Banks, who retired to Eustis in 1921 and resided in Lake County for 24 years. He was the first person to search for the famous Ark of the Covenant and a professor and archaeologist who became the inspiration for the Indiana Jones character. In the Clifford House, there is a room dedicated to Dr. Banks, known as the "Indiana Jones Room" - a room that was originally Mayme Clifford’s bedroom. Many visitors find this room, established to honor this brave adventurer, quite fascinating.
