Description: | These grants are ongoing and given out at the rate of approximately one per week. Some have payouts; some don't. Currently, the following are showing : Collect jeans for homeless youth in your community. Ends 2/14 Create a Valentines Day card for an older adult in your community! Ends 2/18 Everyone has the power to end bullying. Play The Bully Text with your friends to find out how. Ends 4/24 3 in 4 teens feel they don’t know enough about personal finances. Arm your friends with tools to stack their cash. Ends 6/1 Applicant must be 25 years old or younger. What is a Do Something Seed Grant? : Are you working to start a community action project or program? Do you need money to put your ideas into action? If you answered, "YES!", you are eligible to apply for a Do Something Seed Grant. We give out a $500 Do Something Seed Grant every week to help young people just like YOU! These grants can be used towards project ideas and programs that are just getting started, or to jump-start your program and realize your ideas for the first time. These grants can also be used towards projects that are already developed and sustainable, towards the next steps of your project and organization to help you as you look to expand your project and grow your impact. Grant Details How much?: $500 How many are you giving out?: One a week! Deadline: None! Apply now! You will be notified whether or not you have won within 2-3 months after submission. Check out the FAQ if you have more questions Required A budget detailing how the $500 will be used A recommendation from a non-family member Optional (but Recommended) Photos and video of your project Your project's website APPLY Back To The Grants Main Page ELIGIBILITY RULES : The applicant must be 25 OR UNDER. The applicant must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen (You will be asked to prove citizenship and age if you win). You can APPLY for as many grants as you'd like, but you can only win ONE grant from Do Something in a twelve month period (excluding the Do Something Award). DO SOMETHING GRANTS CANNOT BE USED TO FUND : Travel Costs (If you are looking for grants to help you cover a travel abroad experience check out mytravelbug.org or studyabroadfunding.org) Individual Sponsorships Shipping Costs Individual School Fees (Do Something Grants are not educational scholarships) Fundraisers These grants can be for projects on the environment, bullying, discrimination, poverty, education, animal welfare, and for any other general volunteerism. Social Change Animal Action Grants Are you working in your community to raise awareness about animal welfare or tackling cruelty? We want to hear about it! Do Something and the ASPCA have teamed up to create the best online resource out there for young people who care about animals. To kick it off we’re giving out ten $500 grants for projects about animal welfare. Are you working to start a community action project or program? Do you need money to put your ideas into action? You should be notified within two weeks after the application deadline if you are a winner. Your grant money needs to be used within six months of receiving it. All grant recipients are required to submit a final grant update. Core Criteria of a successful application : Youth led and driven - The applicant is in charge of or plays a very active role in designing, leading and implementing the proposed project. Measurable change - Do Something Grant recipients strive toward tangible results. They target quantifiable situations (e.g., a community’s voter registration rate) and aim to improve that rate by a specific amount. Community focus - Do Something Grant recipients focus on problems in their communities. How an applicant defines his or her “community” is up to him or her. Long-term problem-solving action - A Do Something Grant recipient’s project can be a one-time event or an ongoing program; either way, it should strive to make lasting change in his or her community. Creativity - Do Something Grant recipients have creative, original ideas for solving problems and creating change in their local communities. Diversity - Do Something doesn’t view diversity as a “challenge.” We see diversity as something to celebrate. We encourage projects that bring different kinds of people together.
